Message from the Editor in Chief

Hello CAPED!

I am so pleased to be a part of this great organization that continues to encourage and support students with disabilities. The Communiqué is meant to be a resource and information center where we can all go to gain the knowledge and expertise from the hard work of our colleagues. We are a strong community of educators, leaders, students, and administrators, lets continually build on that strength!

In this edition of the Communiqué, you will find wonderful and informative articles on the CAPED Mentorship Program, the LD CIG, APE CIG, The Impact of Cross-Generation Upon the Counseling Rapport, Preparing for AB 705: Using Universal Design for Learning to Support Student Success in Transfer-Level Courses for California Community Colleges, New Northern CA LD CIG Chair, Online Career Mentoring Goes National, and “Many Rivers, One Ocean”

As the saying goes, “It takes a village” well, this is true for the CAPED Communiqué! Without the support of the CAPED community, as well as our brilliant team of editors, this publication would not be possible. I want to personally thank Dr. Nicole Smith for her support in assisting me through the transition as Editor in Chief, as well as our Managing Editors; Adrian Gonzalez, Brian Brautigam, Armand Santos and Leo Orange. Also, please welcome Monique Chhabra as one of our editors!

This year, CAPED will be hosted in beautiful Long Beach, CA. Please stay tuned for updates on the CAPED.io website!
